As an arts innovator, Kevin Orlosky produces community-driven public art that can be a force for bringing humans together while creating opportunities for healing and growth through culture. Believing that artwork that occurs in public spaces is best when it engages the community not passively, but actively, Orlosky develops interactive public artwork so that the broader community gains an increased appreciation for the ways in which art can be an integral part of life. As an artist, Orlosky works strategically to bring people together- to amplify their voices, and create art that is an extension of the community it exists in. He engages audiences in profound ways throughout the process of creation, challenging participants, and intentionally curating experiences that bring together divergent groups to create moments of meaning and introspection through collaboration. By involving the public in the production and creation of public works of art, Orlosky’s projects redefine the way community art is conceptualized while transferring ownership of the artwork to the community.
